Woo hoo! Got hosting for my anime club's website :) It looks all cool and stuff. Go check it out! http://jcfa.ddrmaniax.net

Other than that... not too much happening. But I am happy about finally getting the site up :D

So yeah, not much going on. New Krispy Kreme opening up in town, if nothing else I can try for a job there too.

Yo, I haven't been able to read your blog. It's got major problems. Check this:

Notice anything odd? (or broken)

Hm, btw, guess whose blog breaks in mozilla?

AX was SWEET! I picked up far too much stuff, and am now hooked on the GTO and Chobits mangas. As soon as the pics are developed I'll probably put up a bunch of cosplayers. Chii seemed to be the girl to cosplay, and there were many, many cute Chii at the con. Some with fanservice poses too :D

Many license announcements, I'm very interested in Chobits, Ai Yori Aoshi, Mahoromatic, and a couple others.

Ne ne dini, do you want a preview issue of Newtype USA? I can send it with tetris if you want. Comes with a DVD with the (dub only) first ep of Excel Saga and Steel Angel Kurumi.

Got early birthday presents... I am so set.

I bought myself Excel Saga 1, it's awesome. And I got my Project Majestic Mix CDs today, they're awesome. but... ANIME EXPO XDDDDDD.

I think I figured out one thing that screwed up how your layouts looked in Mozilla (which should be everyone's browser of choice now that it's at 1.0); I set the minimum font size to 12 point which is great on the eyes but apparently not so great on hip, trendy, wonderful blog layouts.

Parasyte

Monday, June 10, 2002 - 02:16 a.m.

It's not the font size that I was specifically ranting about. A couple points of leading kind of turned into a large rant (For those not in the know: leading is the space from the baseline of one line of text to the baseline of the next. If I recall correctly. There's many different lines things are measured by, but leading is the vertical distance between lines. Sort of). Your letters from one line in the last layout would get mixed in with the letters of the next.
FWIW, 12-point hardcoded font size isn't so bad up to 1280x1024. I wouldn't go too far under that though :P

Just partied all weekend over at my friend Rachel's house. Evan is leaving JCFA and Stockton for Japan, so sad. And I'm one of three people in charge of it next year. Scary shit, man.

So, I want to marathon a series at my house at the end of the month. I don't think anyone who reads this page (save you) even has the ability to show up, but I don't care. I want you to weigh in: Should I do Full Metal Panic (24 episodes), or Mahoromatic (12) and Hellsing (13)? Let me know if any of your care.

weee, broke 3000 hits.

Not too much going on. Got a party this weekend going pretty much all weekend.

Er, you need an extra pixel or two of leading on that text AT LEAST.

which brings me to a point - low contrast text or weird barely readable layouts are NOT in any way neat. You ever notice how almost all books are the same? They're that way for a reason. People read fastest when text is 65 characters to a line, and serif fonts are best in print while sans serif fonts are best on a monitor.
High-contrast text is easy to read. Low contrast text is not. Tiny red text on a black red background is unreadable.
Specified font sizes in pixels are a BAD THING.
If you're going to specify shitty colors in a small font size, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, PLEASE PROVIDE AN ALTERNATE STYLESHEET. It's not that hard.
Conventions are there for a reason - Links should be a different color, and UNDERLINED. If you can avoid it, nothing else should be underlined.
The web is resolution independent for a reason - don't defeat that by forcing small text boxes on people. Forcing a small horizontal width is ok to an extent - as I said, people read fastest when there are 65 characters to a line. Restricting someone to a 200 pixel vertical box that you need to scroll is a complete waste. It's not even innovative; it's simply bad design.
One last complaint - DON'T use IE-specific features. It makes life hell for those of us who don't use IE. There's more than enough in the various HTML specs and CSS and Javascript to be able to do anything you want WITHOUT breaking your site for others.

This has been a rant. Bleh.

Well, another "haven't blogged in forever" time for me.

Found Penny Arcade today. Rather amusing.

NLA finally released the Mahoromatic End of Year Special yesterday evening. I'm beginning to wonder if they'll ever get the mahoro DVD episodes out. Oh well.
E-F and A-O did Ai Yori Aoshi 7 last night; I need to get that and watch it. I'm in love with the series.
Akufansubs and Anime-pixel again failed to get out .hack//sign episode 9, sigh. Full Metal Panic 21 was released by them and Animejunkies a couple days ago. I want to marathon that at a JCFA summer meeting when it's finished, which will hopefully be in three weeks.

I'm in summer school now - calc II is proving very hard. Next semester will be worse, with chem starting at 8am and running all the way till 1. Bleh.

Best Buy is having a job fair type of thing on monday. I'm going to go to it, I need a job and they need about 200 people. And I need an employee discount :)

Tuesday, May 21, 2002 - 12:37 a.m.

Amusements from the other night:
"Drink motherfucker, drink motherfucker, drink" - Evan's younger brother making friends with the locals.
"I probably have more testosterone than that side of the table" - Rachel at Shun's Japanese Bistro, making a remark about Alan, Randy, Evan's Dad, and myself. We agreed.
"Testostetackle!" - Rachel coining an interesting word.
"Now, God, that's cheating! Play Jenga for reaaaaaCKMMMGFGGGGGMMMMF" "Testostetackle!" - Earthworm Jim playing Jenga against God.

Yeah, so I haven't blogged in ages. I've picked up an interest in shitajiki and am working on getting one with Kei and Mizuho from Onegai Teacher. I watched some of the enormous amount of anime I need to watch... Ai Yori Aoshi is wonderful. Azumanga Daioh is bizarre.

That's about all that's going on, though. Bleh.

haven't blogged in a while, just saw star wars (and managed to finally kick randy wade and matt out of my house), and...

I KNEW IT! I KNEW JAR-JAR WAS THE ROOT OF ALL THAT IS EVIL! DAMN HIM! DAMN HIM TO HELL!

Um, anyway, now I'm one of the execs for club next year. woo hoo. And if I have my way we'll be screening as much GTO Drama as we can.

Well, Konamix rocks. Especially The Earth Light.

Stockton GolfLand got a DDRMAX2 machine in, and it's the most awesome mix of DDR to date, and I can't wait to see what's unlocked by this weekend (most likely just .59 and DXY! in addition to La Senorita which we've already got).

In yet more DDR news, I've decided to make a freestyle routine and enter a tournament, at Castro Valley GolfLand. (Those of you who might be nearby are invited to come watch if you want). It's gonna be me dancing and singing along with True ~trance sunrise mix~ from DDRMAX... should be fun and interesting. The date will be July 13th.

I'm applying for a job at OfficeMax... should be fun. Though there's no employee discount. Oh well.

Well, I haven't blogged in about four and a half decades.

Anyway, DDR Konamix comes out tomorrow (was hoping some stores would get it today, but that didn't happen). Unfortunately I was at circuit city and Metropolis caught my eye, and it was on sale, and we all know I have no willpower. So, now I'm sitting here obsessively watching the Cowboy Bebop movie trailer over and over.

Um, got up to 2000 hits recently. thats good. It's possible another girl might be joining the group, even better :)

Also, looks like I will be co-president along with one of my friends of JCFA next year. Evan and Tak are graduating, so sad.

I guess that's about it. Oh, I'm helping out with DDRManiaX now. And I'm too lazy to make a new layout for my blog. Anyone who wants to do a bemani-themed layout (I was thinking para para parasyte, heh) will be congratulated.
